Best Thesis Award

ABOUT THE FUNDING INITIATIVE: You graduated! This is the moment to reap the honours for your hard work and solid scientific achievements. Do not miss the change to apply for the “Best Thesis Award”.


WHEN TO APPLY: The call is open between the 1. and 31. of January, every year. Due to the early ANA meeting, for the 2022 award, the opening time will be from the 1st to the 15th of January 2023. Applicants should be ANA members and should have graduated recently. Check out the previous awardees!


HOW TO APPLY: Send the following documents by email to:secretary@austrian-neuroscience.at

-An application letter outlining succinctly why you should receive the Best Thesis Award ;

-A copy of your PhD thesis

-Your CV (+ list of publications if available)

-An Endorsement letter by your P.I.


PhD dissertations of ANA members are eligible for consideration, regardless of home discipline. Submissions are for dissertations successfully defended between 1 January and 31 December of the last year. Dissertations must clearly show the contributions made by the applicant student. Hence, experimental work carried out by co-authors, where pertinent, should be clearly indicated.

Nominations should be submitted electronically to the ANA President Isabella Sarto-Jackson (isabella.sarto-jackson@kli.ac.at) and must include the thesis, a one-page abstract (300 word), a statement on experimental work carried out by co-authors, a list of publications (if available), the CV, and a letter of recommendation from the thesis adviser or committee member, all in English.
